Men's Wiring
I consider myself to be a pretty good handy-man, building things, fixing things, woodworking, etc. Not long ago I was changing out an electrical plug and for the life of me I couldn't remember which wire went to which terminal. Unfortunately I couldn't find the book of "Wiring" in the Bible so I had to seek elsewhere. Well here's the simple answer, when re-wiring, always remember that the white wire goes to the white (silver) terminal, the green goes to ground ("G" for Green) and the black wire goes to whatever is left (the copper terminal.) And if that still scares you, call an electrician.
So what does this have to do with Valiant Men? Well, as we learned in Session 3, we are not wired like women. When God first created us in the womb, we are wired perfectly as men in His image. However, because of what the enemy has done on this earth, our wiring can get all messed up and shorted out (stimulated) somewhere around puberty and for many, earlier than that because of what boys are subjected to before puberty these days (try crossing the white and black wires in the example above and see what happens ... your circuit breaker will pop off.) Most of who we are and how we act is due to the amount of testosterone we have. It's the single most powerful chemical in the male brain and when it gets stimulated; look out, our wires get all crossed up and the sparks begin to fly. But by that time, the problem has already seeded itself into our heart. Fortunately we have courses like "Valiant Men," Nuggets pages like this, and a God that forgives and acts as a circuit breaker for us.

During our group time, we were asked the rate where we were on the scale of the "Highs through the Eyes" Take another look and see where you are at today:

I look at lots of sex stuff (voyeurism) but I don't do any myself;

I look at women / sexual images a lot but don't touch;

I find myself looking for a particular visual stimulus;

I try not to look in a wrong way but often do;

I actively avert my eyes from tempting stuff that attracts me and mostly succeed;

I have learnt to look at my wife / partner and get (almost) fully satisfied from our sexual intimacy;

I just don't look - with self-discipline I don't go there;
-
I am not interested in looking - it doesn't attract me.
Valiant Men of God, it's a tough world out there but you have the power to make a difference. Don't accept mediocrity and go for the best in your life. Turn away from those that influence your life that goes against God's word. When you see young men speaking trash about girls or women, stop them in their tracks. They need someone like you to look up to; least not nail them to the wall with God's word. It just might be the turning point they need in their lives. Don't be afraid, God's got your back.
