It Came to Pass

Yesterday, I received my Costco Connection sales paper and there was an article in it that started like this, "When the going gets tough ... THE BIBLE SAYS, "It came to pass." And as the late Unity Minister Eric Butterworth said, " It came to pass. It did not come to stay; it came to pass."

Now think about that statement for a moment. It came to pass; but did not come to stay. Everyday, whether we are at work, at home, at the ball park, or even the privacy of our bedrooms, we get ourselves into situations or moments that at that instant, we are knocked down, kicked in the gluteus, and the enemy comes in and puts in the fear of failure, places doubts in our minds, and otherwise messes up everything "It came to pass" is trying to teach us. During a drive this morning with my wife, there was a discussion on one of the news stations about people getting laid off or fired from there jobs. Speaking with the newscaster was a Lawyer who specializes in employment law and she recommended that instead of these people looking for revenge by hiring a lawyer, the person is better off putting the energy into looking for their next place of employment. What she actually was saying is, "It came to pass; and not to stay." By concentrating on looking for another job, the person is moving forward and not staying in the same place; thereby validating what the Bible is teaching us the verse in Psalm 105:19 , "It came to Pass."

So now we look at all of the sins that we commit, immoral or not, either by omission or commission.  Some of us have learned to ask for forgiveness and move on; trying our best to get out of that place of sin; again, validating "It came to pass." However, some of us make the same decision over and over to stay in that place of sin. For those of us who are in that place, this author is going to be very blunt.

What are you thinking ???

The Bible tells us that "IT CAME TO PASS !" It does not say to commit sin and stay there.

This knucklehead (me) knows first hand what staying in sin did to me, my family, and all of our friends. It tore everyone apart. Some stayed, some left and it came to pass for them. But for me, I had more knucklehead moves to make before Jesus got a hold of me and shook me with revelation. And it wasn't until that time that I did the right thing and asked Jesus what to do. And if you remember from a few weeks back, He took over my life and guess what ... It Came To Pass !

Nobody said that life would be easy. Nobody said that we will ever be completely cured of all of our sinful ways. Nobody said that we wouldn't be put through trials and tribulations. Nobody said that at times we wouldn't want to just simply throw our hands up and quit that which we have worked so hard and long on. However, Jesus did say to call upon Him in times of need and give over to Him that which we couldn't handle on our own. So today, we can stand together and commit together to saying that when times get tough, "This too shall pass."

Until next time, keep your eyes on Jesus !
